The founders of the Village were neighbors who lived in Lincoln Park. In 2007, they began their exploration of bringing the brand new concept of a Village to Chicago, and when the Village opened in 2009, its initial service area was 60614. The idea was to start small, be a “learning organization” and get it right – to deliver as promised – and then build capacity. After one year, the Village dropped its boundaries. It has continued to grow organically as people learn about it and want to be a part of it and now has members living from the south Loop to Edgewater, everywhere in between and beyond.
