Men’s Discussion Group: Chicago Streetcar Renaissance
Wednesday, January 11, 2017 @ 11:00 am - 12:30 pm
FreeMembers guests—free
Self-hosted lunch to continue discussion at North Clark Café.
Streetcars were the main mode of transportation in Chicago in the 1930s, but in 1948 the CTA started replacing the streetcars with buses. The last streetcar pulled into the 77th-Vincennes car barn 58 years ago. Is now the time to eliminate the buses fueled by fossil fuels and migrate to a modern transportation infrastructure for public transportation powered by clean renewable energy? Join the discussion with John Knause, Executive Director of the project Chicago Streetcar Renaissance, and he will tell us why streetcars are the right solution for some of Chicago’s busiest transit routes.
