Members & guests–free. To RSVP, please scroll down. The day before the discussion, registered attendees will receive a confirmation email with details to join via Zoom.
The LGBTA Committee of The Village scheduled, as part of its summer/fall programming a book discussion for July 5. The participants on that day discussed James Baldwin’s Giovanni’s Room. The discussion was a success, lively and thorough, and at the request of the participants, the Committee is hosting another book discussion, scheduled for October 7 at 4:00 PM. The book to be discussed on that date is Gore Vidal’s The City and the Pillar. Vidal was among the 20th century’s most respected authors. His works include many novels as well as collections of essays and criticism on a wide spectrum of topics. Published in 1948, The City and the Pillar remains a seminal work in the early years of gay fiction, and is still considered one of the best novels of its kind.
The October 7 book discussion provides an opportunity for Village members to read about and discuss issues that have faced, and continue to confront, members of the LGBTA community. The discussion is open to all Village members, and it is hoped that in this non-judgemental setting, members will find a forum for an open discussion about LGBTA issues. The discussion will be hosted by Peggy Walker and the discussion will be led by Bill Gordon.
- Reservations required for all events.
- The Village aims to match participating members by request to Village events when other members who are attending the event are able to provide transportation. When registering, please let the Village office know if you are able to drive or would like a ride to an event.
