This ongoing Village discussion group makes its return! On the first Wednesday of each month, members gather to discuss a selection from an anthology published by The Great Books Foundation. Each anthology contains a complete play or short novel, short stories, essays, poems, and excerpts from longer works. When the group finishes discussing all the readings in one book, it selects another from the Great Books catalog. Most readings are thirty-plus pages in length. Typical discussions have covered Plato’s The Apology, Rothschild’s Fiddle by Anton Chekhov, and Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad.
This month’s selection is “The Body of the Condemned” by Michel Foucault, and the moderator will be Village member Dick Brewer, PhD.
- Reservations required for all events.
- The Village aims to match participating members by request to Village events when other members who are attending the event are able to provide transportation. When registering, please let the Village office know if you are able to drive or would like a ride to an event.
